Getting home repairs done, although costly at times, is a necessity. When you have a reputable professional do the work for you, you should always expect this to be a bit pricey although it should be well worth it. However, if you really want to save a few bucks, then you can do the repairs yourself.

- Sand the edges of the drywall down.
- Cut several inches of dry wall larger than your hole.
- Score the back side of it with a utility knife but don’t cut all the way through to the paper on the front side.
- Spread some joint compound around the edges of the hole.
- Place the piece of drywall you have prepared in the hole, with the paper side out.
- Spread some “mud” all over the piece of drywall and blend it to the wall. Let dry and apply more if needed.
- Sand the surface, wipe it all clean, and paint.
