The Weinland Park Collaborative of Columbus, Ohio is a community program whose target is to raise funds in order to provide exterior home improvement projects to residents. Organizers say they are close to reaching their goal amount of $450,000 as they currently have $350,000 already. As of now, the organization has distributed up to $1 million for exterior home repairs.
One of the beneficiaries of the said program is Georgina Stevenson. She used the money to put up an iron fence and landscape her front yard. She believes the grant to remodel her property did not only do wonders for her and her home but also for the entire neighborhood.
“It does help to raise my property value and the property value of the neighborhood. It does stand out I believe my neighbors are going to step up and do some similar things and bring the whole value of our area up. Especially driving down the street when you see more than one home, that looks great,” Stevenson said.
Another round of applicants will be considered in June of this year.
